Leadership Walking Retreat: Reconnect, Reflect, and Move Forward

Achieve more together outside

The half-day Leadership Walking Retreat is designed for intact leadership teams, cross-functional groups, and any leader navigating change. Teams step away from the rush of back-to-back meetings to reflect, engage in meaningful conversations, and emerge with clear priorities and actionable next steps.

The Experience

The Leadership Waking Retreat evolved out of a recognition that teams need space to step back, reflect, and connect. By taking teams outdoors and moving together, participants shift their perspective — approaching emergent challenges with curiosity; aligning on individual and team values; and engaging in reflection and dialogue that deepens learning.

Designed for leadership teams and intact groups, and cross-functional participants, the retreat is a half-day experience that fits standalone or with existing programs. It can take place in parks, campuses, or scenic urban routes. The flow is adaptable to your team and the available outdoor space, giving you time to surface insights, strengthen connections, and clarify priorities.

Why it Works

The retreat strengthens connection and trust across the team and creates space for conversations that might not happen in day-to-day meetings. Research from Stanford University and related studies on movement and cognition shows that walking supports more open, generative conversations, encouraging curiosity and fresh thinking. Time spent reflecting in outdoor environments, drawing on principles like Attention Restoration Theory, helps participants step back from immediate pressures and see challenges in a new light.

By the end of the session, teams leave with practical insights, a clearer understanding of priorities, and a shared sense of direction that they can act on immediately.

It was actually a great reset for me. To think differently about my leadership Foundation and how that wants and needs to show up for 2026.”

How It Works

A typical half-day retreat opens with the team gathering to orient to the session’s goals. The group then moves into a series of walking conversations in pairs, guided by prompts to explore leadership challenges, personal perspectives, and team dynamics.

These are interspersed with small group discussions that surface insights and foster alignment. The retreat concludes with a closing reflection, where the team identifies takeaways and concrete next steps. While the flow is consistent, routes and reflection prompts are fully customizable to fit your team and location.
